In H1 2025, China’s auto market maintained strong growth momentum, driven by policy support, technological innovation, and strategic realignment. Domestic brands captured over 68% of market share, with leading players such as Chery, BYD, SAIC, Geely, and Changan posting robust sales growth. The synergy between NEVs and intelligent driving technologies continued to accelerate structural optimization and consumption upgrades.
On the policy front, stricter regulations are pushing the industry back to its technological roots. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has stepped up efforts to curb excessive price competition, encouraging fair market practices and product innovation. Technologically, large-scale AI models are empowering the rollout of L3 autonomous driving, while vehicle operating systems, range performance, and charging efficiency have become key areas of competition.
At the same time, global expansion is accelerating. Chinese automakers are shifting from pure exports to localized production: Chery’s European base and BYD’s Thailand plant have both started operations, driving rapid growth in overseas sales and enhancing international influence.
