According to the latest data from Zhineng Technology, Vietnam’s auto market continued its recovery in July 2025 with total sales of 46,819 units, up 4% year-on-year, bringing year-to-date sales to 301,603 units, a 15% increase compared to 2024. Despite economic uncertainties, consumer demand has remained resilient, supported by urbanization and an expanding middle class.
Against this steady backdrop, VinFast delivered a historic breakthrough by capturing the top four positions in the model rankings. The VF 3 led the market with a 6.7% share, followed closely by the VF 5. The Herio Green, tailored for ride-hailing services, secured a strong third place, while the VF 6 consolidated VinFast’s dominance in the compact EV segment.
At the brand level, VinFast retained market leadership with a 24.5% share. Toyota followed with 14.2%, benefitting from its strong sedan and crossover portfolio. Ford achieved remarkable growth of 31.4%, driven by pickups and SUVs, with the Ranger remaining the best-selling foreign model. In contrast, Hyundai and Mitsubishi posted declines of 28.7% and 15.7% respectively, reflecting both intensified competition and shifting consumer preferences.
Vietnam’s automotive landscape, long dominated by foreign players, is undergoing a profound transformation. VinFast’s strategy—leveraging electrification, affordable pricing, and scenario-based innovation—has established a competitive moat and expanded its consumer base. As EV adoption accelerates, competition in Vietnam will increasingly center on new energy vehicles and localized innovation.
